Maine Public Records Resources
Birth, Death, Marriage, and Divorce Certificates: For information on obtaining a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage record from 1923- the present call the Office of Vital Records at 1-207-287-3181. Divorce records from 1892 through the present may be obtained at the same office. Office hours are from 8-5, Monday through Friday. Birth, Death and Marriage records from 1892 - 1922 are located at Maine State Archives telephone 1-207-287-5795.
Search Court Orders: Search by keyword to locate Maine Supreme Court opinions and administrative orders. Not all documents are available online; the search tool will only find documents that are currently available online.
Administrative Orders Index: Administrative Orders issued by the Supreme Judicial Court since June 1, 2005.
Supreme Court Opinions Index: All opinions of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court sitting as the Law Court published since January 1, 1997.
Public Criminal History Records: Electronic access to criminal history records and juvenile crime information maintained by the Maine State Police. This records search will provide conviction and adjudication information for adult and juvenile crimes committed within the State of Maine. Search based on name and date of birth.
Sex Offender Registry Search: The Sex Offender Registry website is maintained by the Maine State Police, State Bureau of Identification and provides information concerning the location of registered offenders currently within Maine. The Registry does not contain information on all individuals that have been convicted of a sex crime. Registration is limited to those individuals sentenced for a requisite offense on or after January 1, 1982.
Maine State Archives: Search databases to find out if records are available in the Maine State Archives or are currently held by other State agencies. Records held by the Archives may be ordered online. Includes Photographs; Maps; Legislation Proposed or Enacted 1820-1860; Executive Council; Early Court Cases from York, Washington and Kennebec Counties; Miscellaneous Municipal Records Filed with the State; Town and City Microfilm Collection; Moving Images, Motion Pictures; Maine Towns Legal Histories dates of incorporation, name and boundaries changes; and Newspapers in Maine.
